Apart from the mountains which descend quickly to the centre of Lake Como and the wonderful ambience created by this magical lake, the history of Lake Como is rich and has allowed many artisans to create wonderful architectural pieces, most notably the famous Villas, some now owned by celebrities and some by the local councils and charities. Walks, hike, take a lake plane, drive and almost wherever you go you will get breath taking views. Conditions aren't always ideal of course, but even on the windiest day when the lake is wave laden, or on the rare snowy day, the combination of mountains, lake and architecture compliment each other to provide amazing and memorable scenes.
