First of all consider what time
of year you are visiting Lake Como. The temperature
and climate of Lake Como can vary quite considerably
but in general is temperate all year around:
Spring: Still some snow on the peaks and there
fore at altitude it can be a bit chilly. If
there is a wind blowing across the Lake then
you will notice the chill even more. We would
recommend taking several layers, waterproof if
it looks like rain or a light coat, plus a cardigan/sweater.
Summer: As you would expect
this is short sleeve weather when the sun is
shining. Being close to water with on and offshore
breezes in early morning and evening their may
well be a chill, so a light cardigan/sweater
is recommended or light jacket at these times.
Humidity can occasionally be a problem but in
our experience quite limited. If however you
are prone to suffering in these conditions, light
loose clothes are recommended.
Autumn: For Autumn read Spring,
without the snow. Like many mild european climes,
getting chillier earlier and the lake wind arises
mealier as dusk arrives earlier and the land
cools.
Winter: Winters are not as cold as you would
expect being at the base of the Alps. There are
some snowy days per year and temperatures can
plunge to -10C. Generally however above freezing
in the 4-14C range. So dress accordingly and
watch the weather forecast.
if you intend to go hiking on the mountains
these can reach over 3000m and the temperature
may well be 5C lower with an even bigger wind
chill factor added to this. |
