James Bond on Lake Como

James Bond is now synonymous with Lake Como in the eyes of local residents and second home owners. Daniel Craig and the famous beautiful villas has captured people's imagination and drawn more people each year to visit this wonderful area.

Casino Royale on Lake Como

The Villa you see above is Villa La Gaeta (not as many people think Villa Balbianello). This Villa is located on Lake Como, in San Siro, is surrounded by beautiful parkland with paths, benches and an illuminated fountain. Casino Royale was filmed in front of this villa where the last scene of the movie shows James Bond shooting Mr. White. The top picture to the right shows Villa Balbianello where after he had been tortured by Le Chiffre starts a meaningful relationship with Vesper Lynd, the treasury agent whilst recuperating.

Quantum of Solace on Lake Como

Quantum of Solace is the 22nd James Bond film by EON Productions, released in the United Kingdom on 31 October 2008. This site will be updated shortly when we have been to see the movie!!

Other Celebrities

Lake Como is of course famous for George Clooney and Villa Oleanda at Laglio, near Carate Urio, just up the road from Cernobbio. The photo below the Quantum of Solace advert is George's villa. He has had a few issues with some locals becoming agitated when he wanted to buy the beach and various other suggestions, but all seems to have calmed down now.

Richard Bransons Villa

Richard Branson of Virgin Airlines has a 30,000 sqm villa close to Villa Balbianello adorned with beautiful gardens, lots of rooms, an indoor cinema and your own butlers and chefs. This beautiful property is available to rent at about EU115,000 per week. (contact us if you wish to rent it). Prices are a little steep for the average person and we you can only get there by water!

Other celebrities who have been filming on Lake Como are Amidala and Anakin from Star Wars who had a romantic liaison and married at Villa Balbianello in the second (or fourth depending on your age) in "Attack of the Clones".

Finally don't forget that Italy has its own celebrities. It was the home of the late Gianni Versace, then owned by his sister, Donatella Versace. Sometime later the villa was purchased by an other European gentleman with substantial funds!
