Monza Formula 1 7 - 9 Sept 2012
Monza has a rich history that dates back to 1922. It was the third permanent racetrack ever built and the layout consisted of the road course and remains in use today. Added to this is as an oval that adds four kilometres onto the total length.
The circuit has been upgraded and altered on many occasions but in 1955 the oval was rebuilt with steeply banking corners. This high speed banking was used in the Italian Grand Prix until 1961 when it was considered too dangerous and only the rosad course was used. In 1972 chicanes were added and altered in 1976.
Monza is the fastest formula one circuit on the racing calendar due to its long straights and tight chicanes. The average speed around Monza is around 240kph and a race not to be missed! The Autodromo Nazionale di Monza is located in the large forested Royal Park just fifteen kilometres outside of Milan.
